Artemis Fowl….Summer Reading Blog

Artemis Fowl

According to a book review written by Susan Harrison, Artemis Fowl, “[Artemis Fowl includes] Fantastic stuff from beginning to end, Artemis Fowl is a rip-roaring, 21st-century romp of the highest order. The author has let his imagination run riot by combining folklore, fantasy, and a fistful of high-tech funk in an outrageously devilish book that could well do for fairies what Harry Potter has done for wizardry. But be warned: this is no gentle frolic, so don’t be fooled by the fairy subject matter. Instead, what we have here is well-written, sophisticated, rough ‘n’ tumble storytelling with enough high-octane attitude to make it a seriously cool read for anyone over the age of 10. ” I couldn’t agree more.

I chose to read Artemis Fowl as my book. My favorite part was when the troll came and caused all the destruction and almost killed Butler because watching a troll destroy I think would be awesome. My other favorite part was the bio bomb. It kills everything that lives because of its vapors. Another part was when Artemis got all the gold. It would be cool to have all that money. I would spend like crazy. I also liked the part when Butler almost killed all the lep oficers single handedly because he was out numbered and they had guns. Another one was when Holly had the wings(or jet pack) because I think having a jet pack and being able to fly would be great. My final reason for enjoying this book was when a man named Nguyen Xuan asked Artemis if he had a weapon and Artemis said no but then told him all the weapons Butler had then said “Butler could kill you 100 differant ways without the use of his weapons.” I think all the old guns he had were cool. That is what I liked most about the book Artemis Fowl #1.

I absolutely couldn’t stop reading Artemis Fowl the Eternity Code #3. I love books that have fantasy and action. The Author, Eoin Colfer made Artemis Fowl, a young teenager with an amazing mind, just like a brilliant scientist. Just picture something called the c cube described in the book that can read anything and control any satellite. Artemis created it!! This small c cube caused a lot more problems than Artemis and his bodyguard, Butler expected. In the beginning of the story, these two fell right into a trap. Then it was non-stop action from there.

I would definitely recommend this book to people who have a lot of imagination and love action. It’s jam packed with fairies, gnomes, goblins, and sprites. It is also filled with crazy villains and eye opening tasks.

Instead of using “The Eternity Code”, I would name this book, “Stuck in a Cube” because it’s like Artemis is stuck in a pickle and can’t get out and there is no way to escape. This title gives hints about the c cube but doesn’t tell the reader everything. In the beginning Artemis was put into a trap after he showed the c cube to Spiro. There was no way to get out until he faced the enemy.

One quote that caught my attention was “For the past two years, I have thrived without parental interference. I have sold pyramids to a western businessman, forged and auctioned the Lost Diaries of Leonardo Da Vinci, and separated the fairy People from a large portion of their precious gold.” Those words really surprised me that a teenager could do all of that! They were really well written and interesting. Another quote that stands out is, “Hey little Artemis Fowl, how the (word I can’t say in school)are you?” said Jon Spiro. This really left me in shock and made me understand that he was a crazy villain. I think it left Artemis in shock too. I could also tell that with all of his expensive jewelry he must have very high tech security and would be hard to beat in a mind battle.

No!! I would not change anything! The book was well thought out and planned. I wouldn’t have liked the book if anything was different.

I have to say that my favorite part was when Artemis Fowl outsmarted Jon Spiro and got the c cube back and then he threw Spiro into jail.

I absolutly loved Artemis Fowl and the Arctic Incident(#2). It was extremely interesting (even though some of the words the author used were a little confusing). The book was hard to putdown. For example, when Artemis and Holly are inside the radio-active train trying to get Butler and Commander Root out of an avalanche using a moon belt. The avalanche was caused by the B’wa Kell. The B’wa Kell was trying to kill Butler and Commander Root so that Opal Koboi and Brian Cudgon could rule the world.

I would recomend this book to people who like fantasy, action, and using their imagination. You have to use your imagination while reading this book or else it will not be as intersting and fun to read.

A good title for this book would be Artemis Fowl and the Betrayal. This title could be used because Opal Koboi, the wepons maker, for the LEP betrayed the LEP when she gave outlawed Softnose lasers to the B’wa Kell and sabotaged the LEP’s weponry.

A quote that caught my attention was “This propensity for humane impulses was happening more and more since his mother’s return to sanity.” this qoute was funny and it showes what kind of words the author used.

There was nothing in this book that I would change beside the big, confusing words the author used. I would change this because if the words were easier to understand I would have finished the book a little faster.

My favorite part in the book was when Artemis shoots his father in the shoulder in order to kill the Russian Mafia member who kidnapped Artemis’ father. I liked this part because it was very satisfying to know that the kidnapper was dead and it showed that Artimis would do almost anything to get his dad back.

For my summer reading I read Artemis fowl #3 the eternity code. I could not stop reading this book because right from the start Eoin Colfer (the author) put in a surprise I would not ever have guessed right from the beginning. And after that artemis is left alone to take back a super high-Tec computer from one of the worlds richest and deadliest people: Jon Spiro, and not to mention his super security system involving pressure pads, laser trip wires, thumb scanners and eye scanners. But luckily he has some help from his old friends the lep (Lower Elements Police) and Captain Holly short of the lep recon team.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fiction, fantasy, and action. Also I would recommend this book to anyone with free time on their hands; these are some of the books where u doesn’t have to like the genre to read them.

If I could give this book a different name it would be Artemis Fowl the fall of Jon Spiro. I would name the book that because that’s what the book is all about stealing from a multi billonere (who would have been a trillionaire if he didn’t but so much security) and then putting him in jail forever.

There was one quote in the book that I liked very much because it was well-written, descriptive, and interesting it is: “And one more things. About my name, Artemis. You were right in London; it is generally a female name. After the Greek goddess of archery. But every now and again a male comes along with such a talent for hunting that he earns the right to use the name. I am that male. Artemis the hunter. I hunted you.” and just like that he disappeared.

There is absolutely nothing I would change about this book I thin k it is perfect just the way it is.

Finally, my favorite part in the book was when Juliet (butlers sister) was taking her final exam to become a bodyguard, but its a field test involving escorting a person through a city, and the leader of the school always uses something up her sleeve like making distractions such as a stampede or a merchant that doesn’t take no for an answer

During my summer vacation I read “Artemis Fowl Arctic Incident”. I love this book because it had a lot of action and was well written. My friend, Tanner, would love this book. I would recommend this book to him because he likes action and mysteries story lines. If I could change the title of the book I would change it to “Back With the Lower Elements”. I would name it this because Artemis meets with the lower elements again , but this time they team up to save Artemis’s father from the Mafiya.

The lines and Quotes in this book were very awkward. They were funny, random, and weird. Some of the quotes were just plain idiotic. My favorite line is when Artemis is thinking “There was something morbidly fascinating about flying an uncharted tunnel at a reckless speed, with only a kleptomaniac dwarf’s word for what lay at the other end.” I thought this was very random and funny. If I could change anything in the book it would probably be nothing. I liked the story just as it is.

My favorite part in the book was probably the part where Butler helps Holly and Root to eliminate all the goblins. Butler goes berserk and destroys everything in his path.

This is why I liked Artemis Fowl.

After picking up the book, I couldn’t stop reading it. This is because, well, it’s kind of hard to put into words, but this book is just so thrilling, heartbreaking, and so full of action and adventure all at the same time! If I were to recommend this to a friend, it would be my friend Bradley. He is so into action and the history of famous battles, and actually, I think he probably chose this as a summer reading book too!
If I were allowed to change anything in this book, I would change the title to The Magic Thief, because not only is Artemis the brainchild of one of the greatest thieves of all time, he is a marvelous thief himself! The “Magic” part is because in this book, Artemis steals about a ton of gold from magical beings that live underground. Another thing I would change is some of the quotes. The only thing Artemis (or any of the other characters) said that wasn’t serious was “Nice peashooter” when Artemis captured a fairy named Captain Holly. Everything else in the book was fine.
My favorite part of the book was near the end, when the fairy police trapped Artemis, Butler, and Butler’s sister inside the time shields because he was holding Captain Holly captive. I think it was so cool, because it looked like Artemis was done for, but as always, he discovered a way to escape.

I loved Artemis Fowl, The Arctic Incident because it captured my mind with the books rich vocab. and thrilling plot. In this book Artemis Fowl is 13, and far wiser then the first book. He has one of the highest IQs on the planet, and he has to use all of his knowledge to rescue his father.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes thrilling adventures with fairies, goblins, and dwarfs. It is an action-packed book that captures your mind and makes you want to read on. Once you start reading the book I guarantee you won’t want to ever stop. Any gender, male or female would love reading this book.
Another title for the book would probably be the Hostile Square because of the minature war going on in the square between Koboi Labs and the LEP. Hostile is for the unfriendliness in the square with all of the fighting. The Square is because it was in the Town Square(an area bound by four streets).
My favorite part of the book was towards the end of the book. It was the rescue mission to rescue Artemis’s father who was captured by Russians, and taken to the Arctic. That part was my favorite part because it was nerve racking thinking about what the Russians might do to Artemis’s Father.

I really loved the book Artemis Fowl because it was action packed and full of fun. I am certainly looking forward to reading the next Artemis Fowl adventure. If you like fantasy you will love this book. It’s a great read for boys and girls of all ages. This is possibly one of the best books I have ever read.
The person I would recommend this book to the most is Keegan. He is a good friend of mine, and I think I know him well enough to know that he likes fantasy and fiction. Artemis Fowl is a combination of the two. Therefore, it is an excellent book for Keegan to read. I hope he reads it.
Another good title for this book would be “The Fairy-Napping”. It would be a good title because in the book Artemis kidnaps a fairy. The fairy he captures happens to be a LEPrecon. As the other LEPrecons try to free their comrade, a siege on Fowl Manor begins. Having run out of time, the fairies have to let Artemis keep the gold they gave him, instead of killing him and taking the gold back.
My favorite part of the book was the siege. It took place at Fowl Manor. The LEPrecons try to free Holly, a caputed LEPrecon, however, Artemis wanted 20 tons of fairy gold in ransom for Holly. When a troll is sent in and Holly heals Artemis’s injured body guard, which helps him defeat the troll, Artemis gives Holly back with half of the gold. Although the LEPrecons try to kill him with a bio-bomb to get back the rest of the gold, he evades it and wins the gold.

In Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code, many parts of the book caught my attention, but one part really stood out to me.
That is when Jon Spiro, a dangerous buisnessman, catches Artemis in his lab in the Spiro Needle trying to steal back the C cube, super advaced computer made of LEP (lower elements police) technology. Near the end of the book Artemis out smarts Jon Spiro by having Captain Holly Short, a LEPrecon officer hide Artemis from Jon and uses Foaly, a centaur working for LEP, to erase Artemis’ image from the security tape to get Jon And his gaurds, Arno Pex and Chip, arrested. I
I enjoyed this part the most because Eoin Colfer, the author, used great vocabulary to tense up the conclusion to keep you curious about the end of the book. It was so enjoyable during that point that it seemed like it would never end.
There is nothing in this book that I would change but would add to it to find out what happens to Jon Spiro. Other than that I believe that Eion Colfer did a fantastic job on the book.

I read The Artemis Fowl Files. In it there are two stories, inerveiws with characters, some of Foaly’s inventions, a fairy quiz, shuttle port locations, the fairy code, and the gnommish alphbet. My blog will only be about the stories.

I would recommend this book to my friend Eric. I would do that because this book could give him a good rundown of the Artemis Fowl world. I don’t think Eric ever really understood the Artemis Fowl series, and I think he might enjoy the series if he understood it.

My Favorite part of the book was when Holly used the shuttle to destroy the house and save Captain Kelp and the Commander. I liked this part because she made the sacrifice of her career to save her comrads, but she got to keep her job in the end.

I would only change one thing in the book. Actually I would add when the stories happen in comparison to the Fowl Manor siege, because I got confused about when the second story took place. Other than that it was one of my favorite books.

On a scale from one to ten I would give this book an eight. I would give this book an eight because it was interesting with mythical creatures and action packed. An intense part of the book I liked was when Butler saved everyone from being crushed by ice. When I was reading this part of the book my heart was coming out of my chest with excitment. I thought it was never going to end and it kept me reading it.

My favorite part of the book was when Artemis out smarted his school headmaster Dr. Po. I found this part of my book to be very funny. It was funny to me because he constantly out smarted Dr. Po all the time. Dr.Po trys to hold it in and not get mad until he can’t take it anymore and then he has an outrage. I didn’t want to put the book down I was laughing so hard at Artemis out smarting Dr. Po. Also in this book Eoin Colfer used great vocabulary and was very discreptive.

One of the things I would change in the book would be to bring Artemis’ younger brother young Artemis. I think it would make for more action because he would have to care for his younger sibling.
