I loved this book. “My Life in Dog Years,” was a great story. Each chapter was about a different dog that Gary Paulsen has had in his life, and actually one of the dogs was right next to him when he was writing about his dog.Every chapter I wanted to have that dog. Sadly, all of them grew old and passed away. I would recomend this book to dog lovers. A cat person or a person who has had bad excperience with a dog will probably not like “My Life in Dog Years.” I think another good title would be, “In Love, With my Dogs.” It seems like the author is actually in love with his dogs. A paragraph in my book tells about Rex, a collie. “His name was Rex and he was a large collie type, slightly overweight, with a white ruff and thick gold hair, matted here and there with burrs-all the colors smudged liberally with fresh, green cow manure he’d rolled in just that morning in the back of the barn. (They loved the smell of fresh manure on their backs and the sides of their necks.)” I think that is super cute. My favorite part was when Gary Paulsen had a dog named Cookie, and Cookie saved his life. He was a sled racer and Cookie was the lead dog. Gary fell in an ice hole, and Cookie saved his life and pulled him out. That is my favorite part because it shows the relationship between Cookie and Gary Paulsen. “My Life in Dog Years,” was a great story. I loved the book, and I loved the dogs.
